China is aggressively expanding its control over electric vehicle manufacturing and critical minerals. To keep America in the lead, Congress must defend smart, pro-manufacturing policies that strengthen our national security and on-shore critical parts of the supply chain. 

Tax incentives like 30D, 45W, and 45X are doing just that—putting U.S. auto jobs first, boosting American competitiveness, and building the vehicles of the future here at home, not abroad. The 30D credit supports consumer access to American-made EVs. The 45W credit helps small businesses modernize fleets and reduce costs. And the 45X credit keeps EV battery manufacturing in the U.S.—not in China’s hands. 

We can’t afford to cede ground. These policies are about jobs, security, and keeping America’s edge in a competitive global economy.
